Time Management

Yes yes, I know its something we all can improve upon but how?

Don't try to reorganise yourself into systems that you feel constrained by because it will not work

But you do need to modify the way you work

I have listed some helpful time management tips below

Use your diary, a personal organiser or your PC Diary Program

Allocate specific times for regular tasks including a Do Not Disturb Time

Be prepared to say NO!

Make a list of Tomorrows Tasks last thing today and not first thing tomorrow!

Make it easy, make a folder in " My documents" or wherever you keep you WP docs with the format you want, have the date set to change to today's date so you can update a& review it each day.

Try to think of solutions that are out of the box

If somebody throws a task at you give them a realistic time scale or even refuse the task

Don't be afraid to delegate

If you don't know where your time disappears to then note what you do for a week and set aside time to review you actions

If you move about a lot or run many different projects & tasks then get yourself a bound hardback book, A4 size, ALWAYS use it to make notes about what you are doing on what project.

You must remember to draw a line under each section and subject & date each entry. Then you will always have note about each project to hand.

Paper, how to avoid being burred under it,

Here is a useful idea from on of the HP sites

Every sheet of paper in its place
Before you start filing, it’s a good idea to get rid of anything you don’t need. Try this useful acronym to decide what to do with all of that paper:

bulletThrow it away or recycle it
bulletRefer it to someone else
bulletAct on it
bulletSave it in the place where it belongs
bulletHalt it (in the case of junk mail or subscriptions you don’t need)

The other rule I like is always try to handle a piece of paper once only

Or the 3D rule

Do it!

Delegate!

Dump it !
